Registration for
the 2009 Chisago Lakes Area Triathlon and Kids’ Triathlon is still open.
This year the event is USAT sanctioned. The 2009 triathlon is
scheduled for Sunday, July 26 at 7 a.m.
The momentum
has not stopped since the inaugural event in 2006 and the
communities and sponsors roll into 2008 with enthusiasm. The
Chisago Lakes Area Half Iron and Sprint Triathlons have proven
to be a success over the past three years with an overwhelming
response of participants reaching and exceeding 1,300
participants
The Chisago
Lakes Area Triathlon, a swim, bike, and run event, features an
event for everyone! The triathlon hosts 3 distance events
beginning with the Kids’ Triathlon on Saturday, July 25 and the
adult Half Iron and Sprint distance triathlons on Sunday, July
26. The sprint distance includes a ¼-mile swim, 20-mile
bike, and 3.1-mile run, while the Half Ironman participants will
endure a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike, and 13.1-mile run. They
will be rewarded with going through the quaint communities of
Stacy, North Branch, and overseeing the Wild River State Park.
The top competitors in the half iron will be rewarded with cash
prize money of $5000. All participants can participate in
numerous age group awards.
Situated in
the heart of Chisago City, Paradise Park will again host the event site. Overlooking Chisago Lake,
the park offers exceptional viewing for the key points of the
event; the swim start, the transition points from the bike to
the run, and also the finish line. Spectators can enjoy
the event in the abundance of shade!
